Firefighters contain blaze at commercial building on Avenida de Mesilla

No injuries reported as Las Cruces crews extinguish early morning fire

LAS CRUCES - A fire caused damage to a commercial building on Avenida de Mesilla early Friday morning.

Las Cruces firefighters responded to the structure fire at 675 Avenida de Mesilla around 5:30 a.m. on Jan. 3. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy fire coming from the building.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze within minutes, preventing it from spreading further. No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.

The cause of the fire and the estimated cost of the damage remain under investigation.
