NMDOH program provides no-cost shots for children 18 and under at locations statewide

SANTA FE - Families can get children up to date on required school vaccinations at no cost this month through the New Mexico Department of Health’s annual Got Shots clinics.

The program, now in its 18th year, offers free vaccinations for anyone 18 and under, regardless of insurance status. Clinics are scheduled statewide throughout August, with some locations offering evening and weekend hours.

“Disease prevention begins with vaccinations, so protect yourselves and your loved ones by staying up to date with your shots,” said Andrea Romero, manager of NMDOH’s immunization program.

The timing coincides with National Immunization Awareness Month, which health officials say is a good opportunity to catch up on missed doses before school starts. NMDOH reports more than 46,600 New Mexicans have received the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine since Feb. 1.

Got Shots clinics help protect children from illnesses such as measles and meningitis, and also serve as a reminder for adults to check their own vaccination status. Insured adults should consult their medical providers, while uninsured or underinsured adults can receive no-cost vaccinations at NMDOH public health offices.

To find a clinic near you, visit the Got Shots website.

School immunization requirements for the 2025-26 year are available online.

Vaccination records can be accessed at vaxview.doh.nm.gov or by calling 1-833-882-6454 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays.
