One man dead, woman airlifted; two suspects in custody, sheriff’s office says

LAS CRUCES - The Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that occurred early Saturday at a residence in the 8900 block of Ivory Wing Lane.

Deputies and Doña Ana County Fire Rescue crews responded to the home just after 12:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting.

Investigators said several acquaintances had gathered at the residence when an argument broke out between two individuals. The disagreement escalated, and both a knife and a firearm were brandished during the altercation.

A 37-year-old man died at the scene.

A 41-year-old woman sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a local hospital. Authorities have not released her current condition.

Deputies identified two suspects and took them into custody following what officials described as an extensive investigation. Authorities said no outstanding suspects remain and the public faces no ongoing threat.

The investigation remains ongoing. The sheriff’s office has not released the names of those involved.
