LAS CRUCES - The City of Las Cruces is asking residents, businesses, property owners and other community members to help shape a redevelopment plan for the Apodaca and Lift Up areas.

The first public meeting for the Apodaca & Lift Up Metropolitan Redevelopment Area Plan will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Booker T. Washington Community School.

The city is developing the plan to identify opportunities for revitalization, reinvestment and improvements within the Metropolitan Redevelopment Area.

Community input will help identify priorities and guide future strategies involving housing, infrastructure, public safety, economic development, quality of life and other neighborhood needs, according to the city.

Attendees will be able to meet the project team, learn about the MRA planning process and share experiences, concerns and ideas about the area.

The meeting will also include a community resource fair, with local organizations and community partners providing information about programs, services and other resources available to residents and families.

People who cannot attend the meeting can participate by completing the Apodaca & Lift Up MRA Public Survey. The survey will remain open through Dec. 31.

Additional information and the survey are available through the city’s Apodaca & Lift Up MRA webpage.
