The city’s celebration includes the Electric Light Parade, Electric 5K, a July 4 concert by 49 Winchester and fireworks at NMSU.

LAS CRUCES - Las Cruces will host its annual Fourth of July celebration July 3-4, with two days of free community events including the Electric Light Parade, a concert and fireworks.

The celebration begins Friday, July 3, with the Electric 5K and One-Mile Fun Run, followed by the Electric Light Parade. This year’s parade theme is “Stars, Stripes & City Lights,” marking America’s 250th anniversary.

The run begins and ends at Meerscheidt Recreation Center, 1600 E. Hadley Ave., with a turnaround at Apodaca Park.

The Electric Light Parade begins at 9 p.m. at Apodaca Park, 801 E. Madrid Ave. The route travels south on Solano Drive, east on Hadley Avenue and ends at the Maag Softball Complex.

The city and New Mexico State University will host the Fourth of July Concert and Fireworks Celebration on Saturday, July 4, at Pat and Lou Sisbarro Community Park, 3205 Arrowhead Drive, on the NMSU campus.

Gates will open at 4 p.m. A Kids Zone will run from 4 to 8 p.m. Triple Jack will perform at 6 p.m., followed by headliner 49 Winchester at 8 p.m.

The fireworks display is scheduled to begin at 9:45 p.m., immediately after the concert.

A clear bag policy and bag check will be in effect. Food vendors will be on site. Grilling, personal fireworks, RVs and overnight parking will not be allowed.

Alcohol will be available for purchase and consumption in designated areas only. Outside alcohol is not permitted. Guests may bring food and drinks, but glass containers will not be allowed.

Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets, personal umbrellas, sunscreen and hats.
