Film Las Cruces and The Asylum will host a free screening of the locally filmed horror movie followed by a cast and crew Q&A

LAS CRUCES - Film Las Cruces, the Rio Grande Theatre and independent film company The Asylum will host a free screening of Summerween at 6 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Rio Grande Theatre, 211 N. Main St.

The film follows a former circus clown who escapes a mental institution and returns to his abandoned mansion, where he hunts teenagers partying there on Summerween.

The Asylum is known for Sharknado and its shark-film franchise. Summerween was directed by Ryan Ebert and stars Clint Morrison and Sophia Sabol.

“Filming Summerween was one of the most exciting experiences of my professional career,” Ebert said. “To work with the incredible talent in Las Cruces was a dream.”

Ebert said the production was able to capture what he called “spectacular shots” and that the finished film exceeded his expectations.

The screening is free to the public and will be followed by a Q&A with members of the cast and crew.
