Las Cruces police focused on speeding, registration and insurance violations in Thursday afternoon enforcement effort

LAS CRUCES - A one-hour traffic enforcement operation Thursday afternoon along Lohman Avenue led to 29 citations, according to the Las Cruces Police Department.

The department’s Traffic Unit conducted the operation beginning at 3 p.m. Oct. 9. Officers issued 10 citations for speeding, nine for operating a vehicle without proper registration and four for driving without proof of insurance.

Other citations were issued for violations such as using a cell phone while driving, failing to maintain a lane and modified exhaust systems.

Police said similar enforcement operations are expected in the coming weeks.
