LAS CRUCES - Restrooms and water fountains at Meerscheidt Recreation Center will close temporarily beginning Tuesday, Dec. 9, due to construction and remodeling projects, city officials announced Friday.

The facility, located at 1600 E. Hadley Ave., will also restrict public access to the lobby area during the work. The front entrance desk, main gym and auxiliary gym will remain open and continue to operate on their regular schedules.

To accommodate visitors while the restrooms are unavailable, portable restrooms and handwashing stations will be placed behind the building and will be accessible during normal operating hours.

City officials said the temporary closures are necessary to complete planned improvements at the recreation center and asked the public for patience during the construction process.

For more information, residents can contact Meerscheidt Recreation Center at 575-541-2563 or TTY 711.
