ALBUQUERQUE - A 19-year-old from Jamestown, N.M., has been charged with making violent threats on social media after the Sept. 10 assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.

According to federal prosecutors, Jace Allen used an account under the alias “Jebron Lames” to post racist threats, including promises of mass murder, attacks on minorities and Jews, and a direct threat against an Ohio city council member.

The FBI’s Toledo office traced the account to Allen’s phone and home. Agents from the Gallup office interviewed him Sept. 11. Court documents say Allen admitted making the posts, identifying himself as a Neo-Nazi, and said he wanted to spark a civil war by terrorizing people online.

Though Allen told agents he did not own a firearm, investigators said his phone contained videos of him firing both a rifle and a handgun weeks earlier.

Allen is charged with transmitting communications containing a threat to injure another person. He remains in custody pending a detention hearing. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison.

The case was announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Ryan Ellison and Philip Russell, acting special agent in charge of the FBI’s Albuquerque Field Office. Supervisory Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew McGinley is prosecuting.

A criminal complaint is only an allegation. Defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
