LAS CRUCES - Las Cruces police wrote 64 citations in about an hour Thursday morning during a traffic enforcement operation on E Lohman Avenue between Walton and Solano. The operation began at 7:45 a.m.

Officers cited 15 drivers for speeding, 22 for no registration and nine for driving without proof of insurance. They also issued five citations for no driver’s license, three for cellphone use while driving and seven for other traffic violations.

LCPD said similar enforcement operations are likely in the coming weeks. The department urged drivers to follow posted speed limits — and to use extra caution in school zones.
