Film Las Cruces, the Rio Grande Theatre and cult film studio The Asylum will host a free June 6 screening followed by a cast-and-crew Q&A.

LAS CRUCES - Film Las Cruces, the Rio Grande Theatre and independent film company The Asylum will host a free public screening of the new shark thriller “Shark Thrash” on June 6 at the Rio Grande Theatre in downtown Las Cruces.

The screening begins at 6 p.m. at the theater, located at 211 N. Main St.

Directed by Marcel Walz, “Shark Thrash” stars Adam Huss and Gina Vitori. The film — shot in and around Las Cruces — follows a family trapped in a flooded town after a tropical storm intensifies and drives great white sharks inland.

According to a synopsis released by organizers, the film centers on the Peterson family and local residents attempting to survive rising floodwaters, collapsing infrastructure and shark attacks while navigating a submerged urban landscape.

The screening is free and will include a question-and-answer session with members of the cast and crew following the film.

The event is presented by Film Las Cruces, the Rio Grande Theatre and The Asylum, the production company known for the “Sharknado” franchise and other cult creature features.
