State job training program awards funding to Doña Ana County businesses
Las Cruces, Santa Teresa employers approved for workforce grants

SANTA FE - The New Mexico Economic Development Department has awarded approximately $5.4 million in job training funds for January and February, supporting up to 221 workers statewide. The funding, issued through the Job Training Incentive Program, assists both new trainees and current employees seeking to develop new skills.
Santa Teresa, Las Cruces companies receive training funds
Three businesses in Doña Ana County — Admiral Cable Inc. and Thyssenkrupp Materials NA Inc. in Santa Teresa and Higher Cultures LLC in Las Cruces — were among the recipients.
Admiral Cable, a Taiwan-based manufacturer of power cables and electrical components, received its first JTIP award to train nine new employees at an average wage of $14.45 per hour. The total funding allocated was $47,898.
Thyssenkrupp Materials, a fabricator of electrical components, was approved for training funds for 21 employees at an average wage of $24.52 per hour. The company was awarded $252,630. This is its first JTIP application.
Higher Cultures, a cannabis manufacturing company, received $39,260 to train six employees at an average wage of $20 per hour.

Additional companies awarded job training grants
The JTIP awards also went to businesses in Albuquerque, Los Ranchos, Milan, Roswell, Santa Fe and Taos. The largest single award, totaling $1.25 million, went to BiltWise Structures of New Mexico LLC in Roswell, which is expanding modular home construction.
Other companies receiving funds include:
- Gridworks Inc. (Albuquerque) – $90,960 for six trainees and interns
- Paradise Power Company Inc. (Taos) – $63,250 for four trainees
- Reflective Jewelry (Santa Fe) – $26,210 for two trainees
- Junction Commodities New Mexico LLC (Milan) – $197,820 for 18 trainees
- Knight Scientific Systems LLC (Los Ranchos/Albuquerque) – $19,694 for one trainee
Step Up program funds additional worker training
JTIP also approved more than $37,000 through its Step Up program, which provides training funds for incumbent workers seeking promotions or higher-paying positions. Companies receiving Step Up funds included Flow Aluminum Inc. in Albuquerque, Parting Stone LLC in Santa Fe, and Paradise Power Company Inc. in Taos.
“JTIP encourages businesses to grow and hire locally,” Economic Development Department Secretary-Designate Rob Black said. “It’s especially exciting to see so many companies taking advantage of JTIP’s Step Up program, a clear indicator that businesses want to promote from within and hire local employees as they expand.”
