SANTA FE - The feature film Coppers, shot entirely in New Mexico and featuring both national and local talent, wrapped filming in July.

The production employed about 30 New Mexico crew members, 18 principal actors and 25 background performers, according to the state film office.

Coppers was directed by Dameon Clark (Dragonball Z) and co-directed by Jim Burleson (Dead Man’s Hand), who also produced the film. The cast includes Sean Patrick Flanery (Boondock Saints), Academy Award nominee Eric Roberts (Runaway Train), Noel G (Fast and the Furious), and New Mexico talent Steven Michael Quezada (Breaking Bad), Julian Cavett (Wanted Man) and Ava Del Cielo (Whiskey Tango Foxtrot).

The story follows two Albuquerque police officers who stumble onto stolen cartel money and a desperate plea to save a kidnapped family. They are thrust into a violent standoff involving cartel members, mobsters and corrupt officials. The climax unfolds in a ghost town concealing chemical weapons.

“New Mexico is the perfect backdrop for a modern-day southwest action caper,” co-director Burleson said.

“This production required a deeply talented crew and cast, which our state’s film professionals delivered,” said Steve Graham, director of the New Mexico Film Office.
