Las Cruces nonprofit celebrates end of roadwork on N. Main with discounted shopping and adoptable animals

Organ Mountain News report

LAS CRUCES - ACTion Programs for Animals will host a special 40%-off sale at its Second Chance Thrift Store on Saturday, June 21, to celebrate the end of nearby road construction and reconnect with the community.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 2475 N. Main St. in Las Cruces. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., visitors can meet trained dogs from Southern New Mexico P.A.W.S. — the group’s prison-based reentry and adoption program — with several animals ready for new homes. Volunteers will also host a bake sale during those same hours.

Executive Director Michel Meunier said the store’s recent expansion has doubled operating costs, making community support more critical than ever.

“We expanded our thrift store last October, and we look forward to more support from the community, especially now that the area’s construction has cleared,” Meunier said. “Expanding means double the commercial rent expense, and we need our Doña Ana County community's support to hopefully double our store earnings, too.”
