LAS CRUCES - A Doña Ana Community College nursing professor is being recognized for volunteer work supporting expecting mothers and families.

Andrea Cathey, a DACC nursing professor, was recognized by High Desert Women’s Center as part of the center’s Sunday Spotlight series.

Cathey has volunteered at the center for years, providing expertise and support for women and families, according to DACC.

She is a registered nurse, lactation consultant, DACC professor and member of the center’s Medical Advisory Board. DACC said Cathey has provided compassion, education and support to mothers navigating pregnancy, postpartum care and parenthood.

The college said her service, mentorship and work to improve the lives of others continue to make an impact in the community.
