LAS CRUCES - Doña Ana County commissioners have certified the county’s 2026 primary election results, moving the election process to a post-election system check required under New Mexico law.

The Board of County Commissioners acted as the county canvassing board to complete certification.

The New Mexico Secretary of State’s Office said the public selection of precincts for the 2026 primary election post-election system check will take place from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 15, at the New Mexico State Land Office in Santa Fe.

Members of the public may also observe the precinct selection virtually.

After precincts are selected, the Doña Ana County Clerk’s Office will begin its post-election system check at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, at the Preserving History and Democracy Warehouse, 2821 Las Vegas Court in Las Cruces.

The county said it will release an update Monday identifying the precincts selected for Doña Ana County after the selection process is complete and after notification by the independent auditing firm.

Under state law, the auditor publicly selects a random sample of precincts from all precincts in the state no later than 12 days after the election. The sample must be chosen through a process designed to ensure at least a 90% probability that faulty tabulators would be detected if they would change the outcome of a selected office.

Audit results must be submitted to the independent auditing firm for review within 14 days of notification of the selected precincts.

Information about the election process is available through the Doña Ana County Clerk’s Office at donaanacounty.org/clerk or DacElections.com.
