Employers can join paid high school internship initiative at no cost through state-supported program

Organ Mountain News report

LAS CRUCES - Doña Ana County officials are encouraging local businesses to participate in a summer internship program that connects high school students with paid work experience.

The county has extended the deadline for employers to submit interest forms for the 2026 Summer Enrichment Internship Program to May 5.

The program pairs students with businesses across the community, offering hands-on experience while allowing employers to mentor and develop future workers.

Businesses do not pay to participate. The New Mexico Public Education Department provides funding and program support, while employers offer a professional work environment for students.

Officials say businesses of all sizes and industries can apply.

Employers can submit an interest form by May 5 through the program’s website at nminterns.com.
