Fire damages home on Cedardale Drive; pets rescued, no injuries reported

A Tuesday morning house fire on Cedardale Drive caused damage to a Las Cruces home but no injuries were reported. Firefighters rescued three pets from the residence.

Blaze brought under control within 15 minutes Tuesday morning

LAS CRUCES - A residential fire damaged a home on Cedardale Drive late Tuesday morning but no injuries were reported, according to Las Cruces firefighters.

Fire crews responded just before 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, to the 1000 block of Cedardale Drive after reports of a structure fire. When firefighters arrived, they saw heavy smoke coming from the garage and attic areas of the home.

Crews launched an interior attack and brought the fire under control within about 15 minutes, preventing it from spreading further into the residence.

During a search of the home, firefighters located one dog and two cats inside. All three animals were safely removed from the structure. Their conditions were not immediately known.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
