ALBUQUERQUE - The New Mexico Film Office announced that the FOX television series The Cleaning Lady began filming its fourth season in October in Albuquerque and surrounding areas.
The series, a character-driven drama, follows Thony (Élodie Yung), a Cambodian-Filipino former surgeon living in Las Vegas on an expired visa with her son, Luca. Initially working as a cleaning service employee with her sister-in-law, Fiona (Martha Millan), Thony becomes entangled in Las Vegas' criminal underworld after witnessing a murder. The show explores themes of healthcare, immigration, and moral complexities, as well as struggles for the American Dream.
Season four stars Élodie Yung alongside Martha Millan (Succession), Kate del Castillo (Queen of the South), Khalen Roman Sanchez, Faith Bryant, Sean Lew (World of Dance) and Santiago Cabrera (Land of Women).
The Cleaning Lady is based on an original Argentine series and produced by Warner Bros. Television and FOX Entertainment. The series is overseen by producers Daniel Cerone (The Blacklist), Tim Busfield (The West Wing) and Eddie Serrano (White Collar).
Steve Graham, director of the New Mexico Film Office, noted the economic and employment benefits of the production.
“The return of The Cleaning Lady to New Mexico will continue to boost our local economy and create jobs for the industry," Graham said. "Our state's world-class crew base, qualified production facilities, competitive incentives and diverse landscapes have proven ideal for representing various locations in previous seasons.”
The production will employ more than 2,500 New Mexicans, including 256 crew members, six principal actors, and approximately 2,384 background performers.
