LAS CRUCES - The New Mexico Department of Transportation is seeking public input on a project to replace four Interstate 10 bridges in the Mesilla Valley area of Doña Ana County.

The public review period runs from June 10 through June 25, giving residents, businesses and other stakeholders an opportunity to review project information and submit comments.

The project includes replacing two bridges at I-10 and Fairacres Road near milepost 136.95 and two bridges at I-10 and Avenida de Mesilla near milepost 140.72. NMDOT said the project also would upgrade surrounding roadways to meet current safety and design standards.

“The existing bridges were constructed in 1971, over 50 years ago and are showing signs of age and deterioration,” said Aaron Chavarria, NMDOT District One engineer. “Replacing the structures will improve safety, enhance roadway stability, reduce future maintenance needs, and provide more reliable long-term travel for motorists along this section of I-10.”

Project information, including environmental documentation and project details, is available for public review on NMDOT’s project page.

Comments may be submitted by email to Joshua Holguin at Joshua.holguin@dot.nm.gov or by phone at 505-470-3637.

NMDOT said all comments received during the public review period will be considered as part of the project development process.
