Sentenario and Conejo streets will reopen as San Antonio Street closes to through traffic for about two months

LA UNION - Phase 2 of the Mendez Street Drainage Project will begin the week of Aug. 31, bringing new traffic changes to the La Union area.

Sentenario Street and Conejo Street will reopen, while San Antonio Street will close to through traffic for approximately two months, according to Doña Ana County.

Residents who live along San Antonio Street will continue to have access to their homes.

During Phase 1, crews installed a storm drain and drainage inlets along Sentenario and Conejo streets.

Sentenario Street was closed between San Antonio and South streets, while Conejo Street was closed between Mendez and Sentenario streets.

The project is intended to improve drainage in the La Union area.

The existing detour will remain in place during Phase 2.

Drivers are advised to use caution, follow posted signs and allow extra travel time in the area.
