LAS CRUCES - The City of Las Cruces has designated warming stations at multiple facilities to provide relief for residents as temperatures drop under a Winter Weather Advisory issued by the National Weather Service. The advisory, in effect from Tuesday, Jan. 7, through Friday, Jan. 10, 2025, warns of possible snow in southern New Mexico and west Texas, along with wind gusts up to 40 mph.

City-operated warming stations will open starting Tuesday, Jan. 7, at the following locations and times:

  • Frank O’Brien Papen Center, 304 Bell Ave.
    • Monday – Friday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Meerscheidt Recreation Center, 1600 E. Hadley Ave.
    • Monday – Friday: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
    • Saturday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, 200 E. Picacho Ave.
    • Monday – Thursday: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
    • Friday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    • Sunday: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Munson Senior Center, 975 S. Mesquite St.
    • Monday – Friday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Safe Café, 6121 Reynolds Dr.
    • Monday – Friday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Benavidez Center, 1045 McClure Rd.
    • Monday – Friday: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

City staff at each location will be available to assist residents seeking warmth and shelter during the advisory period. Residents are encouraged to utilize these resources if needed.
