LAS CRUCES - The City of Las Cruces Parks & Recreation Department has begun Phase 2 of facility improvements at Meerscheidt Recreation Center as part of ongoing efforts to enhance safety, accessibility and the overall user experience.

All programs, sessions and league play are continuing as scheduled, with no interruptions to recreational services.

The weight room and cardio room have been closed since Aug. 6 and will remain unavailable until further notice. Patrons are encouraged to use the Las Cruces Regional Aquatic Center fitness room at 1401 E. Hadley Ave.

Construction is expected to affect entryways starting in October, when an alternate entrance will be in use. Clear signage and directions will be provided to help patrons navigate the temporary changes.

City officials say the upgrades reflect a commitment to creating a safer, more welcoming environment for all visitors.
