Police ID 14-year-old killed in possible road rage shooting

Police say 14-year-old Alejandro Roman was killed in a suspected road rage shooting near Solano and Spruce. No arrests have been made as the investigation continues.

Investigators say Alejandro Roman was in the backseat when shots were fired near Solano and Spruce

LAS CRUCES - Police have identified the teenager killed in a possible road rage shooting Monday night near Solano Drive and Spruce Avenue.

Alejandro Roman, 14, was shot at least once while sitting in the backseat of a vehicle, according to preliminary information from the Las Cruces Police Department. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No arrests have been made, and detectives are still working to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting.

First responders were dispatched around 9 p.m. on June 2 to reports of gunfire near the busy intersection. When they arrived, they found Roman critically wounded.

Despite life-saving efforts, he died at the scene.
