Resource center offers support after Young Park shooting

LAS CRUCES - A Family Assistance and Resource Center will operate Monday and Tuesday at the Las Cruces Convention Center to support those affected by the mass shooting Friday at Young Park.

The center is open to anyone impacted by the incident, including victims, relatives, witnesses or others in need of support. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days at 680 E. University Ave.

Services are free and available to all residents of Las Cruces and Doña Ana County.

Transportation to and from the convention center is available by calling the Essential Services line at 211. Roadrunner Transit is also offering zero-fare rides throughout Las Cruces.

Participating organizations include the Las Cruces police and fire departments, the Office of Emergency Management, New Mexico State University Police Department, Families and Youth Inc., Southern New Mexico Community Foundation, the Salvation Army, New Mexico Crisis Triage Center, La Piñon SAR, Catholic Charities, Heart for the World, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, NMSU Extension Family and Consumer Sciences Program, Little Footprints and victim assistance programs from LCPD and the FBI-Las Cruces office.
