Las Cruces firefighters responded to two structure fires Friday, rescuing three pets from one home and quickly controlling a second fire at an abandoned mobile home.

LAS CRUCES - Las Cruces firefighters responded to two structure fires Friday afternoon, rescuing three pets from one home and quickly bringing a second fire under control less than two hours later.
Firefighters were first dispatched at 11:54 a.m. to the 3100 block of Missouri Avenue for a reported gas leak.
The first arriving unit found smoke throughout the structure and upgraded the call to a residential fire response.

Crews located the source of the fire and searched the home for occupants. Two cats and one turtle were removed from the house.
No firefighter injuries were reported.
At 1:34 p.m., firefighters responded to a second residential structure fire on the 200 block of Three Crosses Avenue.
The first arriving unit found heavy fire throughout an abandoned mobile home. Crews began suppression efforts and quickly brought the fire under control.

No firefighter injuries were reported in that incident.
The causes of both fires remain under investigation.
